Overview
In 2023, as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, I ran a hands-on workshop introducing fellow students to Git and GitHub.
The goal
Give students a working start with version control: tracking their own code with Git, and sharing and collaborating on it through GitHub.
What we covered
- What version control is, and why developers use it
- Creating a repository and making commits
- Branches and merging
- Pushing a project to GitHub
- Pull requests and collaborating with others
Format
A hands-on session: students followed along on their own machines rather than only watching slides.
